Oh Raden

Yep another one - I absolutley LOVE the things he says.

So there is a cute girl that Raden has had a crush on since last year. Well this year she is on his class again and they have assigned seats together on the bus. After school yesterday he asked if he could talk to me in my room and I said of course. So we went in my room and had the following conversation:

R - So you know how  I have a crush on  "girls name" ?
Me - yes
R - Well it started because she had a crush on me first. Its because of ( flexes his bicep on one arm) these bad boys.
Me - ( trying hard not to laugh) Wow you do have big muscles!
R - Yea - every time I show them to her she smiles.

Exactly how many times has he flexed for this little girl?  I think Im in trouble

The Big 8 !

Raden turned the big 8 last Sunday. He had been counting down days for a couple weeks and was so excited. We usually don't do a friends party and a family party but turning 8 is a big deal - so we let him pick some friends to come help celebrate. He decided that he wanted to go see King Fu Panda 2 in 3D and then come home for cake and ice cream and of course to open presents.

I'm so glad he has such a great group of friends to hang out with!

Then on Sunday we had a family birthday party too.

And as requested - chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.

I am so grateful that you are in our family!I love that you know what you want and are so strong-willed. My quietly stubborn child. I hope you continue to make good choices and be an example to all that you associate with. I love you with all my heart - Happy Birthday Raden!

Koston

So my camera broke a couple weeks ago - who knew that would happen if a three year old was using it - so I dont have any new pictures to post/ But I do have pictures of  a newborn Koston that I do need to put on here. SO here we go -

These first two are for those that always think my house is clean - its not, here's the proof! Please notice Jadie in my bed eating Cheerios

Okay - now that you've seen the house .... these are pictures we were able to have taken of him when he was 8 days old.

Happy Boy!

Koston is now 6 months, rolling over, eating baby food and is chunkier than ever. He is such a laid back happy baby. We are all head over heels in love with him! Will post more pictures when we get a new camera

Magic

Everyone has magic. Jadie cut her finger the other day and after i cleaned it out and put a band aid on it she was still pretty upset. So I told her my magic kisses would help her finger feel better. She didn't believe me and said that my kisses aren't magic. I told her yes they were and if she watched really carefully she could see my magic when i blew into the air. So I ceremoniously ( is that a real word?) blew up into the air. She said she still didnt see it. I told her to look closely, it was silver that sparkled like diamonds. Raden walked into the room just then and he said he saw it. In fact he blew into the air too to show Jadie his magic. His was a gold beam with red white and blue sparks in it. Jadie was getting a little interested now but still said she couldnt see it. I told her only the person who owned the magic could see it. Raden corrected me and told her that anyone could see the magic if they believed. I called Bailee into the room and made her tell us what color her magic was. She said ( through her smile) that hers was gold. Jadie didnt seem so disbelieving now. Lexi was called in too and her magic was the colors of the rainbow. We decided that Jared's was blue sparks and Kostons was light blue and white.

I asked Jadie what color hers was. She blew up into the air and said hers was purple and pink. And I could see it.

And her cut finger was forgotten.

Trying to catch up on posts when you havent done it for a while gets pretty intimidating! But here in what has been going on the past three months in a nutshell:

Christmas seemed to come and go as we were just settling in from Kostons birth. But it is still my favorite time of the year!

Bailee had her first orchestra concert and did a great job

Jadie decided to get into roller derby

The kids came up with some inventive ideas on how to make their chores more fun : roller blading while sweeping ...

and tying the broom to your bike so it sweeps as you ride. We have the cleanest street in all of Gladden Farms!

Jadie tore some skin off her toe while playing outside without shoes - such a dramatic moment that she fell asleep after we got her all fixed up :) Just to sweet not to take a picture!

Lexi decided that she was so tired after school pretty much anywhere was a good place for a nap - she didnt even make it to her after school snack.

Papa stepped in for Jared since he had to work and took Bailee and Lexi to the Father Daughter dance at school. It was formal so the girls wanted to dress up. They looked great if I do say so myself! Thanks so much Papa - they had a great time!
Raden had a second grade musical program where they sang patriotic songs. This is the only picture I got of him since he kept hiding behind his friend standing next to him.

And of course Crazy Day at school!  Our favorite!

lexi's way of thinking

It never gets old listening to the way kids think and reason. Today we saw a commercial on tv for anti-wrinkle cream and the kids started to talk about old people and wrinkles. I said that that was just a part of aging and getting older. Lexi piped in and said "yep - its because your skin doesnt shrink when you do" So now I have this picture in my mind of a person shrinking but their skin staying the same and getting wrinkled - too funny!

Survival mode

Sometimes in life you are going to be going along in pure survival mode. Maybe not in the physical sense of actually having to survive - but days that you are just happy to get through in one piece - as ragged as that piece may be :) Jared just started another job and between working two jobs, taking his captains class, and everything else he does we dont get to see him much. And when he does get to come home he gets to see his beautiful wife, usually not showered yet, baby spit up all over, dark under-eye circles, no make up and pajamas on. We get dinner on and the kids in bed - accept for Koston who has one more late night feeding. Eventually we will get a chance to sleep in the same bed together - some nights - but only for a little while until one of the other kids crawls in bed with us and we are just to tired to care enough to kick them out :) Oh and working out? What's that? Lets hear it for surviving one more day! I really am smiling as I post this :)

somewhere

Over the past week I have come to a conclusion. There needs to be a place that moms can go when they are sick. To be taken care of  when the husband isnt there. There would even be free babysitting to take of the kids. Someone would bring you chicken noodle soup, find some medicine that  you can take even though your nursing that would knock you out, and just the sound of quiet. Or moms just shouldn't get sick. Especially moms with sick newborns. I like that idea even better. And while you are at this wonderful magical place there is a spell put on your house that prevents it from getting destroyed because you arent there to take care of everyone else. Just saying.

My Lexi Love

Wow - time is flying faster every day. My Lexi turned 6 last month and I am just now getting around to posting it. With Koston being just a couple weeks old we didnt do anything big but had a family party with grand parents.

Make sure to check out the "birthday best" dress and crown she decided to wear for her big day!

Happy 6th birthday to my bug catching, rough housing, always singing, gate climbing, mischievously smiling, cuddling, adorable Lexi. We love you so much and are so grateful to have you in our family. You bring so much fun into our lives!
