Gilbert Temple Dedication

On Saturday we went to Phoenix for Jared's Aunt Velma's 85th birthday party. We don't see that side of the family too often so it was good to visit with them.

That night over 11,000 of the youth in the Gilbert temple district performed a cultural celebration for the dedication of the new Gilbert temple.  Pres.  Monson and Pres. Eyring attended it.  Ironically it hadn't rained in over three months and we were in need of the moisture and that night it poured during the whole celebration but it didn't seem to put a damper on anything. I can't wait for my kids to be able to participate in that for the tucson temple - what a once in a lifetime opportunity!

Yesterday we were able to watch the second session of the Gilbert temple dedication. Bailee, Raden and Lexi were able to attend as well but Jadie and Koston aren't baptized yet and weren't able to go.  We arrived pretty early to get good seats and Bailee commented that the chapel "felt different". She said she almost expected to see people walking around in white clothing.while we were waiting different pictures of  temple rooms were being shown. A picture of a celestial room came on the screen and I felt the spirit so strongly testify to me that that is a sacred place and that the plan of salvation is real. I have only felt the spirit that strong a couple times in my life.  The speakers included the assistant to the temple matron, her husband the first councilor in the temple presidency, and Pres. Erying. President Monson gave the dedicatory prayer. We are so blessed to have 5 temples now in Arizona and eagerly await the building of the Tucson Temple.
